It gives us great pleasure to announce that Tabor has appointed Christine Gilbert as the Head of the College’s Spiritual Direction program, effective as of January 2024.
Christine is a well-known face at Tabor, having taught into the Graduate Diploma in Spiritual Direction since the start of the year. Christine has significant experience as a spiritual direction and professional supervisor, completing her training at the Living Well Centre in Melbourne and the Uniting College, Adelaide. She runs her own private spiritual direction and supervision practice and will continue to do so alongside her role at Tabor.
In a personal statement, Christine shares her sentiments about taking on the role of Head of Program for the Spiritual Direction Course:
''It is with a sense of humility and anticipation that I take up the role of Head of Program for the Spiritual Direction Course. As we often say in contemplative practices, we are always beginners. Therefore, I hope to bring, above all, my great desire to grow and deepen the love of God within so I might live and serve from this love more and more.''
Christine has also articulated her vision for the program:
''My intention with the program is to cultivate an ethos within the spiritual direction learning community that enables us to be immersed in the contemplative life and ways. In my experience, this is transfigurative and undergirds any skills and knowledge we might gain in the course. From such ennobling spaces, we are released to be lovers of God in the world, bearing the fruit of Christian discipleship.''
Christine is the third Head of the Spiritual Direction program, and we are looking forward to seeing the contribution she will make, as she brings her unique skills and experience to bear for the next season of this valuable program.
A warm welcome to the Tabor Family, Christine! We are delighted to have you on board with us, eager to witness the positive impact you will undoubtedly bring to the Spiritual Direction Program.
