Why is this called the President’s Hike? This hike is a once-a-year occurrence where Tabor’s President spends time with students enjoying nature and growing community. It is intended to be a relaxed and rejuvenating time around actively hiking.
When: Friday, 4 October - Sunday, 6 October 2024. Depart at 2pm from Tabor Millswood.
Transportation: Students to arrange their own transport or to carpool from Tabor to the campground.
Distance: Approximately 28km
Duration: Distance covered over 2½ days
Where: Drive to Tappanappa campground, hike to Balquhidder and finish in Waitpinga.
Accommodation: Friday and Saturday night in tents.
Fitness requirements: A moderate degree of fitness is required as you will be hiking approximately 12km a day with a backpack. You really don’t need to be a top fit athlete to enjoy this. We are not out to break any records but rather to enjoy a wonderful experience together. That said, Tabor does withhold the right to decline participation if there is reasonable doubt about your physical health and safety in doing such a hike.
What to bring: Students to bring their own backpack, camping gear, food and cooking equipment. If necessary, assistance can be provided to those needing any camping equipment. A detailed hiking gear list can be found here.
Register: via the dedicated form on this page
